The Discovery Land curriculum is a memorable, engaging, hands-on way to inspire kids to know and love God! The curriculum is built on a dated Scope & Sequence that teaches an overview of the Bible every three years. Most lessons focus on a specific Bible narrative, but the Scope & Sequence also includes occasional topical lessons. Ages 2 through 5th grade are learning the same lesson each week.
As a DLG or Alliance Kids – Discovery Land member, you have access to everything we offer. You don’t need to pick and choose which elements to purchase because all program resources are included with your membership. Quarterly curriculum is released 1-2 months prior to the first week of the quarter. All other materials are always available on the website in the members’ area.
Following the Dated Scope & Sequence
The Runners, Preschool, and Elementary curricula (ages 2 through 5th grade) are designed to work together as one unified discipleship tool. All three groups follow the same three-year Scope & Sequence, and each lesson follows the 4 Rights biblical worldview structure, but the lessons are written for that specific age group. That means that whether a child is two, six, or ten years old, they are learning the same truth from God’s Word at an age-appropriate level.
The curriculum is dated, meaning each lesson is tied to a specific date on the calendar. We encourage churches to follow the dated plan as closely as possible. There are two big reasons for this:
One of the most surprising (and helpful) parts of the Discovery Land program is this: no matter when your church begins using these resources, you simply begin the curriculum wherever we are in the three-year cycle. It can feel a little unusual not to start in Genesis or “Year 1.” But, after decades of working with churches, we’ve seen that this approach works smoothly. Within the three-year rotation, children will come to understand the big picture timeline of God’s Word – Old Testament and New Testament – no matter where they begin.
Because every church has its own schedule, we understand that occasional adjustments may be necessary. However, since the curriculum is released quarterly, we encourage churches to follow the Scope & Sequence as closely as possible. This helps your ministry stay aligned with the big-picture plan and ensures that the curriculum you need is available when you need it.
