Well-trained, committed volunteers are an essential piece of the Discovery Land program.
Each church has its own DL Director, and each preschool and elementary class typically has three leaders that work together the entire morning: the Lead Teacher, Discover Time Leader, and Shepherd. (In smaller churches, the Discover Time Leader and Shepherd roles can be combined). For age groups younger than preschool, we encourage churches to have a weekly teacher and rotational volunteers.
In addition to the three primary classroom positions, there are many opportunities for people to use their specific interests and gifts in supporting roles. You can learn more about these opportunities in the Basics Manual, in Lesson 15: The Volunteer Structure.
